Arrival in Ayutthaya
I have finally gotten out of the miserable city of Bangkok and arrived in Ayutthaya - picture below is where I’m currently hanging out and blogging.
Ayutthaya is a small town with lots of old, old temples (wats). You know the face of Buddha covered in tree vines? That is here. I’ll post pictures later.
The hostel I’m at is more like a hotel as I have my own room and bathroom but still very 3rd world hostel-esque since there is a rooster pen across the street and no one speaks English. In fact my tuk tuk driver got so lost on the way here that he had to pull over to ask directions twice (to no avail) then call his friend who spoke English to help translate. It’s like I’m actually on Amazing Race.
The town is very small and it’s oppressively hot outside (over 100) so I rented a bicycle and cruised around some temples then decided it was time for a shower and some Stephen King. I’m hoping some fellow travelers pop in the common area tonight…48 hours is about my solo limit.
