OLD TRAVELS
Koh Tao, Thailand | Summer 2015
My real passion in life is spending significant chunks of time outside of the US. I’ve been a scuba dive instructor in Thailand, backpacked through Central America, fell in love in Europe, and spent a lot of time in Mexico. Most of the posts on this page are from travels in 2014, 2015, and 2018. Check out my Current Travels for what I’m doing now!

2 Month Hiatus
It’s been exactly 2 months since my last post, and for that, I apologize. For whatever reason, after Simon and I evacuated Russia/Mongolia and got back to the joys of Southeast Asia…I just stopped writing.
Last day in SEA
It’s my last day in SE Asia and I’m struggling with summing up my trip, but I will try. Back home in both Chicago and Denver I felt like life was happening to me - I didn’t feel alive. Out here I have felt like I’ve lived two entire lifetimes.
On the road for a month
I’ve been gone for a month as of today, but I feel like I have lived a lifetime out here - in a good way.
Hin Daeng / Hin Muang
Headed out this morning to dive Hin Daeng and Hin Muang. It is supposed to be some of the best diving in the world and the best in Thailand.
Ending Laos
My time in Laos is ending tomorrow and it’s been the best time on my trip so far because of our great crew. There are 8 of us from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, and France.
Chiang Mai > Luang Prabang
Another quick update. Trekking in Chiang Mai was amazing - we saw the Hmong hill tribe people, slept in bungalows, and made some really great friends (more on this later.)
Ayutthaya > Chiang Mai
Blogging decreases when happy and busy but increases when you stay up too late, it’s 102 outside, and all you want to do is lay in the air-con.
Arrival in Ayutthaya
I have finally gotten out of the miserable city of Bangkok and arrived in Ayutthaya
Bangkok Protests
Sorry Mom…
I did exactly what I wasn’t supposed to do and ended up in ground zero of the Bangkok protests. Flipped and burned cars. Tent cities. Megaphones. Razor wire. Walls made of burned tire. Popcorn army. Life size pictures of government officials with their eyes gouged. Zero white people
